In Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, Uhura is shown handling a critical assignment in the transporter room, as part of a daring escape plan to steal the Enterprise.

After successfully locking up a fellow crew member in a closet, she uses the transporter station to beam Hikaru Sulu, Captain James Kirk and Leonard McCoy to the Enterprise, so they can use the ship to help breakout First Officer Spock whose trapped on Genesis Planet.

Spock is the son of famous Vulcan ambassador Sarek, and Amanda Grayson, a human. The father-son relationship between the two is at best strained and turbulent, although it is clear that there exists a mutual love and respect for each other.

The reason for their falling out was mainly due to Spock’s turning down an offer to study at the prestigious Vulcan Science Academy. This caused Sarek great disappointment, and he was further insulted, when against his wishes, Spock signed up with the Starfleet Academy.

Spock served on the USS Enterprise as First Officer of the ship for eleven years, under the captaincy of the charismatic James Tiberius Kirk.

Nero’s primary goal was to ensure that there was going to be a bright future for Romulus, without any interference whatsoever from the Federation.

So when an older Spock came through the black hole in the year 2258, Nero was ready for him. He immediately seized the other’s ship, which still had on board, an entire compartment containing red matter.

However, instead of killing off the elderly ambassador, Nero decided to maroon Spock on Delta Vega, so he could witness the destruction of Vulcan taking place before his very eyes.
