‘Beat It’ is a popular single written and performed by the late Michael Jackson for inclusion in his massively successful album, Thriller, which was released in 1982. It was co-produced by Michael’s close friend Quincey Jones. Famous guitarist Eddie Van Halen was brought on board to add the track’s distinctive overdriven guitar solo.

The song was heavily promoted with an accompanying short film clip that showed Jackson succeeding in bringing together two rival gangs through the power of dance.

A worldwide success, ‘Beat It’ snagged two American Music Awards and two Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall Of Fame. The single, along with its music video, propelled Thriller into becoming the most commercially successful music album of all time.
