Harry’s most treasured item – his wand, was made of holly and measured approximately eleven inches in length. It’s core was created out of Fawkes the phoenix’s tail feather. (The phoenix is Dumbledore’s guardian bird)

His wand was meticulously crafted by the renowned wandmaker, Ollivander, who also happened to create a twin wand from yew and another feather from Fawkes. The twin wand selected Voldemort, a.k.a. Tom Riddle, as its owner. The most feared Dark Wizard would later use this same wand to attack Harry and his parents, James and Lily Potter.

Since both of their wands originate from a similar phoenix, Harry and Voldemort share a unique connection that prevents them from directly dueling against each other.

At his very first broom-flying lesson at Hogwarts, Harry soon discovered that he possessed a natural talent for flying. He was so good at it, he was immediately selected to represent the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and consequently, made history by becoming the youngest Seeker to play in 100 years.

Harry received a surprise package from Sirius (his godfather), just before he made his debut at a quidditch tournament. It turned out to be a brand spanking new Nimbus 2000, which was the best racing broom to be relased that year.

However, he did not have the most auspicious starts to his career. Not even ten minutes into the game, he lost control over his broom – it became clear to everyone that it was being jinxed.

His best friends and fellow Gryffindor students Ron and Hermione, spotted Professor Severus Snape in the crowd, focusing all of his attention on Harry…all the while mumbling an incantation of some sort.
