The main theme song for Hannah Montana is the popular ‘Best of Both Worlds’ penned by Robbie Nevil and Matthew Gerrard, produced by the latter, and performed by Miley Cyrus.

John Carta, who was responsible for composing the music cues to signal a commercial break or scene changes during the first season, also composed the music for the song.

‘The Best of Both Worlds’ succeeds in aptly describing the themes of Hannah Montana. The full version of the song (which lasts 2 minutes and 54 seconds), was included on the soundtrack of the show, and released in October 2006.

For the television version of the theme, which only lasts for 54 seconds, only the first and last two stanzas were used.

Other songs that were tested for the opening theme song included ‘The Other Side Of Me’ and ‘Just Like You,’ before producers finally decided on ‘The Best Of Both Worlds.’

The opening sequence for the first couple Hannah Montana seasons feature various episode clips of each member of the cast, when their name flashes on the screen. Each of their names are ‘wiped’ on screen in marquee-like style.

The sequence then gradually shifts to full-screen episode clips with the creator’s names being displayed in the penultimate clip.

The show’s title logo always appears at the beginning and at the end of the sequence. The last few seconds of the ‘concert stage’ part depicts Cyrus as her alter ego Hannah Montana. The only changes made to it for Season 2, were the addition of Disney’s logo just above the show’s own logo, and the replacement of episode clips.
